Douglas (Doug) Parker has an extensive public utility and municipal background. He spent twenty five years with the Belleville Utilities Commission, first as Treasurer and then General Manager. The Commission operated the electric utility and the water utility, including the water treatment plant. During his tenure, the water treatment plant in Belleville was rehabilitated and expanded at a cost of $38.5M.The city now has a state-of-the-art water treatment facility.

During his career with the Commission, Doug served on many provincial committees dealing with electricity and water issues.

His previous experience was in the private sector with various manufacturing companies in Toronto, Windsor and Belleville.

In 2000 he was elected to Belleville City Council where he served on various municipal committees and boards. He was a Director on the Veridian Board, an electricity distribution company owned by the cities of Pickering, Ajax, Clarington and Belleville.

Doug, has been very active in his community and has served on several non profit boards.

He is a professional accountant with the designation CMA from the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario.

Currently, with OMWA Doug is a member of the Joint OMWA/OWWA Executive Committee which reviews legislation, regulations and other areas of concern to our membership. The Committee meets regularly with MOE and other Ministries.
